Finding the Right Therapy for You

Every now and then, I receive enquiries about whether I offer Emotional Freedom Technique, Trauma Therapy, Acupuncture, or Massage. While these are all valuable practices, I haven’t trained in them and don’t offer them.
I did, however, used to be a massage therapist. In 2008, I transitioned to The Bowen Technique after discovering its effectiveness and long-lasting results. Not only did Bowen Therapy provide remarkable benefits to my clients, but it was also kinder to me as a practitioner.
After just two years of extensive massage treatments, I started noticing strain in my hands and body—something Bowen allows me to avoid while still offering powerful healing.
There are many therapies available today, and each offers fantastic results in its own way. I truly believe people are drawn to the therapy that resonates with them at that particular moment. That doesn’t mean they’ll stick with it forever, but when it works, it works. Later, they may find they need something different—something deeper—to address other aspects of their well-being, whether physical, mental, emotional, or even spiritual.

So, What Makes Bowen Therapy Special?
Bowen Therapy is a holistic treatment, meaning we work with the whole body, not just the area where discomfort is felt. It’s gentle, working over fascia to initiate a conversation with the nervous system. The body then processes the small rolling movements applied during the session, releasing tension, improving circulation, and enhancing lymphatic flow.
Within minutes of starting a Bowen treatment, the nervous system shifts into parasympathetic mode—often described as "rest and relax" mode. The rolling moves applied to specific points around the body are gentle, creating a safe and nurturing space—something clients often mention. Many describe feeling “grounded,” a sensation that’s incredibly important for overall well-being. When grounded, we feel calmer, clearer-headed, and more at peace. Too often, stress keeps us stuck in our heads—overthinking, worrying, and spiraling into negativity—without actually solving any problems. Bowen Therapy helps move the body away from that pattern and into a state where true healing can take place.
That being said, Bowen Therapy is not a replacement for medical care. Consulting a GP, specialists in mental health or trauma, or seeking NHS support when necessary is always essential. However, Bowen can be a wonderful complementary tool to ease stress, reduce pain, and improve mobility. Many clients also find that better sleep follows, further supporting their healing journey.

Keeping My Focus Where It Belongs
As a Bowen therapist, I take the time to listen, tailor treatments to your specific needs, and refer you elsewhere if I feel you need additional tools beyond what I offer. So, when people ask if I do other treatments, the answer is no—because I choose to focus on Bowen Therapy, Reiki, and Health & Wellbeing Coaching. That said, if you’re looking for support, I may still be able to guide you in the right direction.
