Therapies For
Chronic & Acute Pain

The aim of all my interventions is to help you become mobile again – and keep you that way. The therapies I offer usually provide good relief from some of the symptoms of conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Long Covid, ME, MS, Parkinsons and others. As holistic therapies they do not treat the condition itself but the whole person and their symptoms.

The core treatment I use is the Bowen Technique, but I also offer Reiki and Bach Flower remedies; I can also provide a combination of these therapies tailored to your circumstances. I always work with you to explore ways to help your body cope with pain and stress.

My therapies may also alleviate acute pain from injuries and general wear and tear that we sustain during the course of our lives, such as back, neck and shoulder injuries which might present as sciatica, frozen shoulder and lumbar pain.

After a couple of sessions I noticed significant differences in my mobility in the problem areas - Kate

The Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique was  developed in Australia by Tom Bowen (1916 -1982).

If you are suffering with persistent or recent pain, perhaps due to poor posture or injury, or generally feel out of alignment, then the Bowen Technique may be just the thing for you. It is increasingly popular as it's a safe and effective form of treatment for all ages. Bowen therapy helps to re-align, re-balance and reduce tension throughout the body by encouraging and kick-starting the body's natural healing mechanisms. Some of the most commons symptoms that people choose Bowen for are back and shoulder pain, joint pain, digestive disorders and stress-related conditions.

The treatment usually takes place with the client lying down, although I do treat some clients seated, if necessary. It is performed through light clothing, so no need to undress. It involves a series of rolling-type moves using thumbs or fingers over muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia at precise points on the body. These movements are interspersed with short breaks where you are left resting; this allows your body to respond, and is a very important part of the treatment. Most clients drift off into a light sleep during treatment, so I make sure they are given time to come round before they go home.

Many people choose Bowen as a means of stress management and health maintenance. It has been reported to affect a number of incidental factors: improved quality of sleep, ability to concentrate and focus, mood elevation and a more positive outlook on life!

Bach Flowers

Flowers used for Bach flower remedies

This is a lovely therapy and ideal if you are feeling anxious, stressed and tired all the time as it provides deep relaxation. It has become very popular with all ages over the years due to its grounding and non-invasive character.

The Japanese word Reiki is usually translated as 'universal life energy', and the idea is that energy or 'chi' flows freely through all living things in our world, including the human body. Reiki is safe and gentle, and uses chi which is channelled through the practitioner to treat physical ailments without using pressure, manipulation or massage. When we are in poor health the energy may not be as free-flowing, and Reiki may help to clear these blockages in a person's energy field, kick starting that natural process to self-heal, promoting better health and well-being.

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Depression

Conditions that Reiki may help with

The term 'Flower Remedy' refers to the products developed by Dr Edward Bach, a London bacteriologist and homeopath in the 1930s. He became disillusioned with the side-effects of drug therapies, and turned his research to the healing power of nature. He believed that illness was a result of mental or emotional imbalance, and that the unique energetic property of a plant could be used to rectify an imbalance and restore the awareness of wholeness.

With 38 remedies available that can be mixed there are a huge amount of possible combinations to uplift the emotions, and encourage a more positive lifestyle. During your consultation with me, we will discuss remedies to help you. The remedies will then be provided in a mixer bottle and sent to you.
